IBPS has been one of the most successful organizations in the recent months in giving the Indian job seekers a ray of hope to enter the banks. The public sector banks will be calling up nearly 1 lakh candidates for interview from the list of IBPS clerk passed candidates. The query for IBPS clerk interview pattern and techniques to crack them has been the major concern among the candidates in the recent reports. So, the most effective and best IBPS clerk interview success tips have been bunched up together in this article and presented before the candidates to get most out of the public sector and private sector bank clerical interviews in the coming months.
This report has been made up by some of the successful candidates in PO and clerical interviews from the major banks. Lets get into the questions and their definite answers.

Query on how should I present myself in front of the judging panel?
Ans: You should be correct on time and keep an eye on your documents that they are properly stacked according to preference or not. It shows a disciplined character of the candidate towards the panel. Dress up in formals and keep hairs and nails neat and clean. When you are to enter the room, ask for permission in a calm yet confident tone. And ask if you can seat when you go in front of them, sit when they ask you to sit. Calmly be firm and straight in your posture and look towards everyone when answering their questions. This makes the judging panel feel that you are confident and ready to answer them. Also it shows your clarity on the subject and makes them interested towards you, which is very important for any type of interview.

Introduce yourself.
Ans: The judging panel has an introductory common question and that is your introduction. Be careful not just to get over the question and say your normal answer which you have been doing so far to relatives and people. Be frank and besides your educational and personal background, say about some sort of achievements that have made you more regularized and strong as a person. But do not just say I have achieved this and that, rather say I have been given this award for my this and that effort. That will make them feel that you are not too much boasting and you are truly a genious.

Why you have chosen banking career after graduation, why not your related field?
Ans: It will be the most common and mark scoring question in the coming IBPS clerical 2012 interviews. The IBPS clerk interview pattern holds the successful key here. Start with saying like,” I have always seen the potential in the banking sector, be it a recession or slowdown, banks have always topped the chart in regular business with no downfall. It also has a great career development potential that no other industry can provide. I feel that the education I have achieved so far, more or less I can contribute from my knowledge to the banking sector and make the personal as well as organizational mutual development.” This will show the judgment panel that you are clear cut about your objective and have no hesitations in your aim.

Question about banking and its current affairs:
Ans: There will be some questions on banking related knowledge and current affairs related to banking. So get over some books that have current affairs on banking. Kiran’s General Banking and Economic Awareness is a good book for the clerical bank related questions. Questions on current RBI regulatory policies, recession and its affects and the bank on which you are giving interview (related questions) will be asked. So prepare for these type of questions and answerfluently. If you cannot say them that you are unable to, but do not hesitate. That will make a wrong impression of your confidence.

If you are selected, what are your future plans and how that will help the bank growth?
Ans This is also an important question that has been quite difficult to answer for some people at that instant moment. Start with, “Sir, because I see the banking sector as the bond of an individual as well as mutual relationship, it makes a great amount of sense that cooperation and customer satisfaction will be my top priority. I will work over customer and official work satisfaction and also keep an eye on the bank business requirements. I will be more than happy if I can serve the bank in different roles as and when the need arise. As I will be commited purely on my work and organization business needs, I think bank will grow more than the expectations with proper mutual cooperation. Not only it will serve the purpose of bank business growth, but will also develop my working skills and personal attitude.
There can be more questions about family and relationships, IQ related questions and general knowledge. But the most important fact is whatever be the question, be confident and answer with a smiling face. Remember, many questions are asked just to confuse you and make you pressurized, as the judges want to see how you can handle the situation. So, be calm and confident in the IBPS clerk 2012 interviews. IBPS interviews are there for scoring marks, not todowngrade you. So, get the most out of yourself and take on the first step to a successful bank career.
As per aspirant demands, we have analysed and made a report on IBPS clerk score and probability of getting call for interview. Visit the link below for detailed analysis on your clerk score and where you rank for an interview call.

Important Interview Question

Q: What are Basel norms?
Basel is a set of standards and practices developed for global banks to ensure that they maintain adequate capital to withstand periods of economic strain. It is a comprehensive set of reform measures designed to improve the regulation, disclosures and risk management within the banking sector.
Q: What did Basel I and Basel II focus on?

Basel I norms was introduced in 1998, focused almost entirely on credit risk. It defined capital requirement and structure of risk weights for banks.

Basel II was introduced in 2004, laid down guidelines for capital adequacy, risk management and disclosure requirements.

Q: Why Basel III?

It is widely felt that the shortcoming in Basel II norms is what led to the global financial crisis of 2008. That is because Basel II did not have any explicit regulation on the debt that banks could take on their books, and focused more on individual financial institutions, while ignoring systemic risk. To ensure that banks don’t take on excessive debt, and that they don’t rely too much on short term funds, Basel III norms were proposed in 2010.

Q: What does Basel III norm stipulate?

Basel III establishes tougher capital standards through more restrictive capital definitions, higher risk-weighted assets (RWA), additional capital buffers and higher requirements for minimum capital ratios. It also introduces new strict liquidity requirements.

Q: What is the biggest criticism against Basel III?

That the stringent capital requirements come at a time when the global economy is in the midst of a slowdown. This will leave banks with less money to lend, in turn pushing up the cost of borrowing; and thereby further aggravating the slowdown.

Q: Why are many banks opposed to Basel III norms?

Basel III norms will require banks to undertake significant process and system changes to make upgrades, particularly in the areas of stress testing, liquidity and capital management infrastructure. The reforms could fundamentally impact profitability and require sweeping changes in the business models of many banks

Q: What is the deadline for banks to become Basel III compliant?

For international banks the deadline is December 31, 2018 and March 31, 2018 for Indian banks.

Q: Why the earlier deadline for Indian banks?

The RBI said that: We did this to align our date with the close of the Indian fiscal year, which is March 31. We could have gone up to March 31, 2019, but that would have overshot the Basel III prescription by three months and would have attracted adverse notice.

Q: Why are Indian banks concerned about Basel III norms?

Just like for international banks, Basel III norms will affect the profitability and return ratios of Indian banks as well. Something which is admitted by the RBI.

Basel III requires higher and better quality capital. Admittedly, the cost of equity capital is high. The average Return on Equity (RoE) of the Indian banking system for the last three years has been approximately 15%. Implementation of Basel III is expected to result in a decline in Indian banks' RoE in the short-term.

Q: How much extra capital will Indian banks need for Basel III?

According to RBI’s estimates, Indian banks will require a capital of Rs 5 lakh crore over the next five years, of which Rs 1.75 lakh crore will have to be equity capital. Within the Rs 1.75 lakh crore, anywhere between Rs 70,000-1,00,000 crore will have to raised through the market, depending on to what extent the government will infuse capital in state-owned banks.

Q: Indian banks are much better off than global banks that caused the financial crisis. Why then should Indian banks then comply with Basel III norms?

The RBI said: India should transit to Basel III because of several reasons. By far the most important reason is that as India integrates with the rest of the world, as increasingly Indian banks go abroad and foreign banks come on to our shores, we cannot afford to have a regulatory deviation from global standards. Any deviation will hurt us both by way of perception and also in actual practice. Also, it is important that Indian banks have the cushion afforded by improved risk management systems to withstand shocks from external systems, especially as they deepen their links with the global financial system going forward.

Effects Of Common Interview On IBPS Aspirant !!

IBPS  is an institute, recognized by government of India, which got the permission from Indian government to conduct the common exam for bank jobs. It conducted PO 1, PO 2 and Clerk CWE successfully and issued Scorecard for the same.
Recently in a meeting of IBPS with Finance ministry it was discussed that candidates appearing for the common bank entrance exam may soon have to go through only one interview to land a bank job in India.

The finance ministry, in consultation with state-owned banks, is considering a centralized interview for all candidates who clear the written exam, a move that is expected to benefit lakhs of students who appear in these examinations.
If common interview for IBPS aspirants get implemented, it will have both positives as well as negative effects. Here we tried to discuss some of them.
Positives of Common Interviews :-
A common interview will help both banks and candidates by simplifying the recruitment process further and reducing the time involved in the selection process. Currently, although all state-owned banks other than the State Bank of India and its associates recruit through one common written exam, students have to appear in multiple interviews to get a job !
Common Interview is a good step to stop multiple selections as in a common interview, cutoff will also be common and we can analyze our chances of selection as well. As there would be one interview so there would be less chaos, simple n fast procedure, more economical and student friendly along with lots of similar benefits ! Also banks would be able to sort out the candidates as per there criteria and the students wont have to suffer the mental fatigue which they are facing today due to individual interviews for each bank. Hence there would only be a single selection / rejection round which is the need of the hour !
Negatives of Common Interviews :-
Common interview has a two faced stand ! Like every coin has 2 sides, the Common Interviews will also have a negative side which is the chance to get finally selected will be reduced if someone does any single mistake on the Interview day, he can lose all his chances for all 19 banks. Hence it would be a one-go chance for the students i.e if one perform well on that very day its awesome otherwise the candidate may miss final selection despite having good TWS and would have to wait for next PO / Clerical exams !
To be frank we can’t judge which one is more suitable for the candidates as main “Aim” of IBPS was to simplify the Banking Recruitment process which these individual Bank Recruitment were unable to do for past several years ! Hence IBPS concept was introduced as it claimed to be simple, student friendly system and would prevent multiple selection by selecting accurate number of candidates.
But actually common interviews are not necessary as IBPS just need to amend its policies such as it should start seizing the scorecards of selected candidates and should give only 1 final cut off as this would help to avoid the situation of over lapping and multiple selection which has proved to be a curse for the IBPS scorecard holders till date!
Please provide your views below regarding common interview policy whether it should be implemented or not and will it be benificial if implemented?

Tips to prepare for Bank Interview

Since now you have cleared your written exam, the last phase of the bank recruitment process is Interview. Along with your performance at written exam, interview will be the deciding factor if you have cracked the recruitment process successfully. While your knowledge was judged in the written exams, the employer will judge your communication, attitude, and problem solving skills.

Know the bank
The first step to the preparation of bank interview is knowing the bank of which you have cleared the exam. Almost all banks today have their website to promote financial products and provide online banking for their customers. Know about their history, services, products, achievement, management, as well as their values.

Practice interview questions
Ask a friend to help you prepare for basic interview questions. Interviewers would ask about you, your family background, strengths, weaknesses, the reason they should hire you etc. Give a copy of your resume to a friend and allow him/her to question you about your education and work experience.

Preparing situation based questions
Interviewers might ask the candidates questions related to their personal life or work history when they had to face issues or conflicts with a tough boss, a stubborn customer or an arrogant co-worker or pleasant experiences when an employer or customer was pleased with your work. The motive is to judge the candidate as a team player, his/her efficiency in handling a specific situation, honesty etc. The candidate should ensure to answer these situational questions with a real-life example.

Practice questions
Once you are prepared with the interview questions, sit or stand in front of the mirror and practice looking yourself in the eyes. Pay attention to the nervousness, the way you speak, its pace and clarity of words. You can even record your voice to notice the problem areas and rectify them.

Prepare questions to ask the interviewer
Generally it is expected of the candidate to ask questions about the company or position at the end of the interview. The interviewee can ask questions about the duties at the bank.

Dress up
Besides preparing for the interview, it is important that the candidate is perfectly groomed and has a professional interview outfit. Both men and women should wear business suit, that are clean and wrinkle free.
